Ticings.

Have you heard of ticings? They are pre printed edible icing that you peel and stick onto things you bake. I love baking but my end result doesn't always look so sharp. I am totally intrigued by this product.

Now that's packing.

Found here.

Collection a day.

I am sure a lot of you have seen the 'Collection a day' series by Lisa Congdon but it is much too wonderful for me not to post. I used to collect anything and everything when I was younger. I used to collect pennies and build pyramids out of them...

Mikey Burton Book Cover.

A great cover for a great book from Mikey Burton.

Links of note.

As the weekend is just around the corner I find myself fantasizing about baked goods and parties. Two things of which I am unlikely to encounter on my days off. Too bad! It seems the blog-world has too been enticed by such things and here are some lovely links to prove it:

A truly glittery party hosted by Anabela of fieldguided.

Some rather cute gift wrap topper DIY.

I have always been fascinated by baking bread, but maybe a little a fearful of trying. I find inspiration in a Heart of Light.

A delicious savoury recipe from the Chronicle Books Blog.

I dare you to try this recipe for chocolate cupcakes. Yum!

You might want to download this free March Calender from Simple Blueprint to keep track of all of your upcoming parties.

And then after all that party and all that baking you might want to thinking about eating some carrots or maybe going for a walk. My sister is charting her weightloss journey here and wrote about an awesome online tool.

P.S Don't forget to enter to win the super sweet wood wall ornament from Teal and Gold. You have until Monday to enter.
Enjoy your weekend m'dears!

Hey neat!

The Chronicle Books Blog is giving away gorgeous Webster's Pictorial Dictionary posters. Check out the post here. (Open to North American readers only).

Samantha Robinson Porcelain.

I adore these porcelain coffee cups from Samantha Robinson. I would love to have a set to replace my mismatched mugs.

The Tweed Run.

Images from here & here.

Have you heard of the Tweed Run? Described as a 'metropolitan bicycle ride with a bit of style' is an event that takes place in London where enthusiasts are invited to wear their best 'proper attire' and take a cycle through the city. Sounds delightful.

Tanya Aguiniga.

Knot bracelets of another kind, who can resist? All of the work of Tanya Aguiniga is very intriguing.

Pom Pom Love.

The tissue paper pom-poms from Pom Love feel me with an intense desire to host a party. Well played pom-poms, well played indeed.

Sock wagon.

Recently I posted about how more and more attention is being paid to well-designed socks here. I think it is great. I mean, in high school I had my own collection of cherry-printed socks and now I stick to neutrals but I would be proud to don these lovelies on my feet.

Ashidashi has a brilliant collection of clever, graphic print socks.

Archiduchesse have socks in every gorgeous colour you could imagine.

And my beloved and appropriately named 'Happy Socks'would add the right amount of glee to any outfit (hidden or not).

Vancouver Guide: Burgoo.

Images from here.

Burgoo is a dream if you're looking for divine comfort food. Everything about it hollers comfort (I chose the word 'holler' over 'scream' because it sounded more comfortable). I have been there a handful of times and it is always a treat. I've only been to one of the three locations in the Greater Vancouver area (main street), but the atmosphere is spot on. The interior has a rustic cabin feel with a lot of old wood and the perfect blue and white flannel napkins. I have so many favourite dishes it would be hard to name one, but I highly recommend the Irish stew or yummy carrot soup. They have delicious take on an array of international cuisine (butter chicken anyone?). Okay, now I feel like I'm rambling and all I really want to do is go to Burgoo. And you should too.

Decoy Lab.

I've been thinking about buying a clock for my 'studio' (see: dining room) and I really love both the paper and wood clocks from Decoy Lab. My favourites are the Cuckoo clocks as they remind me of my Oma.

Poodle Breath.

Melissa Pavlovic is a Vancouver based artist behind Poodle Breath. She makes terribly unique pieces of jewelry and art out of porcelain. Everything she makes is equal parts quirky and lovely. I especially covet the tiny tree stump business card holder.

Hey I like you: Bang your head.

Favourite blog for this week is very new, but still wonderful: Bang your head. It is 'a photoblog of your outrageously teased, beautifully frizzed, awesomely bad (circa 1980s) hair'. I dare you to try not loving it.

Giveaway: Teal and Gold.

EDIT: The winner is Jill! Congrats to you!

This week's giveaway is from a new favourite of mine: Teal and Gold. I posted about them here earlier this month. Tyler and Kelly have graciously offered one of their beautiful, wood-burned bear wall-ornaments to a Post Grad Hair Cut reader. Make sure to visit their blog to see what projects they are currently working.

To enter, please visit Teal and Gold's shop and leave a comment below with your name, email address and favourite piece from their shop. For an additional entry, make a post linking back to it on your blog or on twitter and post a second comment with a link to your post. Comments will close on Monday March 1st at midnight.

And make sure you're a follower/subscriber of Post Grad Hair Cut, to stay in the know of more opportunities like this!

Typographical Evolution.

Click the image to see details.

All the work by Jessica Hische is pretty inspiring but I love her 'My evolution of type' piece that charts her ever-changing favourite fonts throughout her life.

The Good Machinery.

I think the art by the Good Machinery is really beautiful. I especially love the softies she makes.

Book ends.

I really love these hand-drawn book-ends by Aurora Lee Hales.

In my bag: Part IV.

Our next bag is from a most excellent blogger, Mallory, of Where the Lovely Things are:

"My name is Mallory, and I am on a constant quest for lovely things to post at my blog, Where the Lovely Things Are. My bag's contents serve as a wonderfully accurate visual round-up of my interests, including - movies, books, illustration, jellyfish, music, and all things quirky and lovely and young-at-heart. The only thing missing is food, and boy do I love food."

1.) Jellyfish tote from The Outfit, Inc. - When I need to carry a lot of stuff with me, I use a tote instead of a "nice bag" - today was one of those days. I was so psyched when I found this, as jellyfish are my favorite sea creature.
2.) Walt Disney's Cinderella by Cynthia Rylant, illustrated by Mary Blair & 3.) Hippo! No, Rhino by Jeff Neman - Currently, I'm working as an aid at a preschool, & I brought in these two books to read today. They're both fabulous, if you're into children's literature, like I am.
4.) Netflix dvd - I think Netflix is one of the best inventions of the last 20 years. Honestly. I love movies.
5.) Alligator wallet from Bungalow 360
6.) Thick Woolrich socks - I wear flats almost daily & I go to the movies all the time.... more often than not my feet get freezing in the theatre (although they don't otherwise - strange). I always have socks in my bag to slip on in case of frigid-feet.
7.) Nintendo DS - I love video games and I'm not afraid to admit it. Cooking Mama is amazingly addictive.
8.) Planner from Paperchase
9.) Olivia the Pig notebook - Where I keep all my lists and make notes of things & such with 10.) a pen
11.) Can't Buy Me Love: The Beatles, Britain, and America by Jonathan Gould - I'm always reading something fiction & something non-fiction, & this is my current non-fiction book of choice.
12.) Bug castanet - Another item for preschool-use... although I bought it for myself, mostly
13.) ipod sleeve from Wonder Thunder & 14.) ipod touch
15.) a sweet little mirror in a rabbit case I got in the Japan section of Epcot, haha
16.) Paperchase glasses case
17.) SparklePaw mirror with an octopus on it (my second favorite sea creature)
18.) My ancient & completely un-technologically-cool cellphone.
19.) Lipgloss (bright pink & sheer)

Thanks to Mallory for her post! Tune in next Tuesday for part V.

Favourites from Blim Market.

I went to Vancouver's Blim Monthly Market this past Sunday to check them out in their new location at Heritage Hall and say hi to some pals (thanks for the cupcake Lyndsay!). Here are some of goods that caught my eye.

This incredibly light-weight wood laptop case by plein air (I didn't get his name, just his card) who also makes really lovely drawing cases. I will own one of these. (note tone of determination)

Some really classy clothes for little ones by Escargot.

This really unique Canada-inspired locket by Melanie of A Farmer's Daughter.

Lovely handmade party hats from Jamie of Fort Design Co.

And also moccasins by Daniel Mcrorie. Although I could not find them available online. I still encourage you to take a look at his work through his site.

Stanley & Sons.

As you may have been able to tell from the things I post, I have a soft spot for anything that has an 'old-fashion' or 'quality' feel to it. I often talk about this category of things 'evoking a sense of nostalgia for a time I am too young to have experienced'. The bags and aprons made by Stanley & Sons definitely fit into this category. I love the canvas, the leather, the colours and the fact that each of the items is handmade in Brooklyn out of re-purposed materials.

Marmar.

Mamar is a clothing line for children from Copenhagen. Love the clothes, love the styling. I am left wishing I were little once again.

Rebaba Badges.

Love these simple badges by Rebaba. I think they look great on the army-green jacket.

Great online store: ReForm School.

ReForm school
caught me with their clever 'old school' theme. With shop categories like 'child development' (stuff for little ones) and 'organic chemistry' (bath and body products) this online everything store is pretty clever, I have to say. They sell everything from stationery, accessories and clothing to books, art and beauty products. I really enjoy their 'Student of the Month' which features a collaboration with a new artist each month. They have a strong focus on DIY, craft, design and art and sell a lot of great kits (like a mini loom!).
